UPDATE: After-School Program at Casa Romero
The After-School Program at Holy Cross’ Casa Romero is so much more than just a tutoring program. It’s a powerful and effective mentoring program. It’s a leadership development program. It teaches critical job and life skills. And for more than 20 years, it’s kept neighborhood children and teens off the street, out of gangs, and looking to the future with hope.
In many ways, Casa Romero is a second family for the young students and mentors who spend every afternoon there. So when recent Illinois budget cuts were announced—cuts that have resulted in significant and debilitating decreases in funding—the community was devastated.
The After-School Program needs your help. Recently tCI donors’ generosity has allowed group leaders to receive medical training so they can be better equipped to handle any situation that arises. Your gifts have also allowed the staff to purchase materials and supplies for Casa Romero’s classrooms. But given the ongoing budget situation in Illinois, now, more than ever, we need your help.
