Resources for Hope this Thanksgiving
Every November our thoughts turn to giving thanks for our many blessings, including the food on our table. At the same time, many of us also find ourselves thinking of those who struggle to find enough to eat. Like many problems, the impact of food insecurity can be difficult to fully understand. This month we’d like to share some resources from our website to help clarify the problem and its ramifications.
- Our overview of food insecurity answers many common questions, including who is struggling with food insecurity in America and why, as well as how this issue relates to youth violence.
- Food deserts are another piece of the puzzle; read what they are here.
- Some people are more at risk and face greater consequences from food insecurity. Read about how the problem impacts older adults.
Positive change is possible. Many programs in Claretian communities are working to address food insecurity and its consequences. Check out the Bread of Life Food Pantry, the Kids Meal Program, and the Campesino Outreach for a few examples. And thank you! We’re grateful for all you do to light the light of hope for those in need.
