How You Helped in 2014
What Your Donations Did
Now that we’ve started our second year of this initiative, we want to share just a few of the truly amazing, crucial ways that tCI supporters have impacted the lives of those living in the communities the Claretians live and work in every day.
In our email last October, we shared how just $1,000 of your donations saved an entire summer youth program (if you missed it, join our monthly email list now). In addition to ensuring young people had a safe, fun place to learn and grow over the summer, your donations made a tremendous year-round impact on the youth in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Holy Cross’ After-School Program at Casa Romero received significant support this last year. Your giving helped ensure that a neighborhood of young people had a safe place to have fun, to get much-needed academic tutoring after school every day, to spend time with positive mentors, and to learn job and life skills during out-of-school hours. The Kids Meal Program, part of Casa Romero, also received support to help them continue to give young people ages 3–18 a nutritious third meal every day after school.
Donors have also lent crucial support to Holy Cross’ Peace & Ed Scholarship fund, which enables high school, college, tech/vocational, and community college students of all ages to pursue their educations. These annual scholarships make a huge difference in the lives of many students; you can learn more about the 2013 scholarship applicants here.
Other Notable tCI News
In 2014 we launched the Latino Legacies film series, which will enable the Claretians to reach young people well outside of the communities they currently serve. Watch the first film in the series now on YouTube.
The year 2014 marked the first time tCI participated in #GivingTuesday, a global movement devoted to charitable giving during the holiday season. We’re thrilled to report it was a success; in one day we were able to raise roughly our usual monthly donation total for the many tCI programs in need.
We’re also very pleased to announce that in 2015 we’ll be adding more communities and programs to our list of programs. Check back often for the latest!
Finally, we want to thank you for your support … whether it’s been through joining our email list, following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, making a donation, or just by simply reading our Impact Blog and helping spread the word, we truly appreciate it. You’re helping build something real for people and communities in great need.
